All About Solar Energy System

Solar energy systems have no fuel costs, so most of their cost comes from the original investment in the equipment. The total installed costs of solar applications vary depending on the type of financing used. Solar energy is an abundant source of renewable energy. Contrary to popular belief, solar power is a viable option in Canada, thanks to Canada’s generally clear skies. Solar energy will also continue to become more competitive with wind and biomass due to the maturity of these technologies and solar energy’s potential to make revolutionary breakthroughs. Thin film photovoltaics are just becoming commercially available, while crystalline silicon based technologies still dominate the market and are mature in their own respect.

Solar energy is needed by green plants for the process of photosynthesis , which is the ultimate source of all food. The energy in fossil fuels (e.g., coal and oil) and other organic fuels (e.g., wood) is derived from solar energy. Solar energy is frequently used in residential homes to heat water. This is an easy application, as the desired end result (hot water) is the storage facility. Solar energy and nuclear energy are two main non fossil fuel energy resources. Vast amounts of solar energy reach the surface of the Earth.

All About Solar Energy

Solar energy is light and heat energy from the sun. Solar cells convert sunlight into electrical energy. Solar energy can also be used to meet our electricity requirements. This electricity can either be used as it is or can be stored in the battery. Solar energy prices via Solar cells (photovoltaic) will come down mainly because REALLY big money thinks it will. Some very large companies are building extremely expensive factories to make poly-Silicon which is the basic raw material for silicon solar cells.

Solar energy companies may not be able to secure an adequate and cost-effective supply of solar wafers, cells or reclaimable silicon. If government subsidies and economic incentives for solar power are reduced or eliminated, the demand for solar energy may decline and cause corresponding declines in the revenues and profits of solar energy companies. Solar energy has existed for five billion years, since the sun was born. And humans have been using solar energy for thousands of years. Solar energy is also terrifically versatile; as we mentioned above, it can be used to help grow food and fuel, light, heat and modulate the temperatures in our homes, disinfect and desalinate water, and more. And, once you figure out how to best maximize the available energy, solar is the gift that keeps on giving; as long as the sun doth shine, solar energy will be available for its myriad uses.

Solar Cells: Generating Power Out Of Sunlight

Solar cells are devices that have been designed to tap into the solar energy which is abundant on the surface of the earth during daylight. You would have seen small solar cells at work in your calculators, watches and other such devices and could have observed that some of these contraptions seem to be running on these solar cells alone, forever, as though they never need any other source to derive power from, as along as there is sunlight.

The solar cells we see everyday are also called Photovoltaic cells or modules-usually frames with groups of solar cells tightly packed and arranged in a systematic way. Photovoltaic are special materials which have the ability to convert sunlight into electricity. Hitherto used exclusively for space and related applications, it has now been extended to almost everything from water heaters to automobiles.
