A New Beginning at the Closing of Spe Indian Oil and Gas Event
Mumbai, At the closing of the first Indian Oil and Gas Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2008 it was announced that the second edition of Indian Oil and Gas Technical Conference and Exhibition will be held on February 2010.

2008 SPE Indian Oil and Gas show saw the participation and partnership of both notable government and private company officials. They included Mr. M.S Srinivasan, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and National gas: Mr.R.S. Sharma, CMD, ONGC .Dr A.K.Balyan, Director H.R.ONGC. Mr. Mitra, Director Offshore, ONGC, Mr. Rahul Dhir, CEO. Cairn Energy.Mr Pasricha, CMD. Indian Oil

This event had outstanding attendance, with more than 1200 energy professionals from India and from around the world. It had two plenary sessions, a well attented HSE session and 13 technical sessions. The plenary discussion covered the conference theme of “Changing Landscape: Emerging Opportunities in the Indian E & P industry”. It discussed the role technology can play to fill in demand and India’s needs for new technology. The problem of brain drain was discussed in detail

The second plenary session was more technical, discussing deep water development, the challenges and India’s potential. The focus was on technology as the enabler and cost reducer.

The HSE panel focused on the significance of a good HSE culture in the EP industry, applying the best standards and how to develop a safety conscience.

One of the highlights of the event was Education Day sponsored by Shell and ONGC, where more than 200 students got a glimpse of the challenges of the oil industry and an understanding of how this industry explores and produces oil and Gas. The students got an opportunity to clarify the myths around the industry and awareness about the different job opportunities, career prospects, job compensation and career progress in this industry.

It was an outstanding opportunity to network with colleagues and exchange views on the latest technology. This Exhibition was organized by Reed Exhibitions , the leading event organizers where it showcased state – of- the art technology and services. Eye-catching exhibits were put up at the stalls of industry leaders like ONGC, OIL, Reliance, Cairn India, BG, Schlumberger, Shell India, Great Offshore, Baker Hughes, Petronet LNG, Halliburton etc amongst a total of 61 exhibitors
